Interior design firm furnishes two Habitat homes in Delray

Published July 3rd, 2008

FROM STAFF REPORTS

Two South County families who received new homes through Habitat for Humanity found that the houses were exclusively furnished for them by P & H Interiors who joined forces with two local builders and other industry professionals for the Habitat for Humanity “Home Builders Blitz” 2008.

Both families received the keys to new homes in Delray Beach, and walked on the celebratory red carpet through the home’s entrances. When they turned the keys to unlock the doors for the first time, builders and the design team from P & H Interiors greeted them.

“Our staff has been creating interiors for both families for months,” said Susan Connor, president of P & H Interiors, headquartered in Coral Springs.  “The Habitat families knew that we were helping them with selecting paint colors and roof tiles, but they had no idea that we will be furnishing every room in their homes.”

Connor said her design firm chose to participate as an observance of its 20th year in business.

“This has been a wonderful experience for our staff,” she said. “We couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate our 20th anniversary than to assist Habitat for Humanity in this project.”

Families also got a donation of $3,000 each from K. Hovnanian Homes and Current Builders. P & H Interiors donated furnishings for the living rooms, bedrooms, kitchens and dining rooms.

The Habitat for Humanity South Palm Beach County (SPBC) “Home Builders Blitz” 2008 coincided with 110 Habitat affiliates participating in building hundreds of homes in one week.

“By partnering with professional homebuilders and associated businesses, Habitat affiliates can increase the number of homes they build while builders can help the community by giving to those who deserve a chance at homeownership,” said Kevin Campbell, director of the national Home Builders Blitz program for Habitat for Humanity.

Locally, K. Hovnanian Homes of Boynton Beach and Current Builders of Pompano Beach gathered subcontractors and suppliers to obtain materials and professional labor for the project.
