Data Mining

Published July 6th, 2008

You might like to know that, and without debate or discussion, the US Senate included an amendment to a housing reform bill H.R. 3221 to require major credit card companies and Internet payment services, such as PayPal and Google Checkout, to collect, aggregate, and transmit detailed information about every online sale to the federal government.

Do we really want the callous and careless-with-our-data federal government to require online companies to construct vast databases of personal data for the government to tap at any time?

Unlimited and unchecked data-mining of the Internet by a Federal government supposed to be accountable at the ballot box?

No.
