CATHERINE B. CATENA

Catherine B. Catena, 91, formerly of Boca Raton and Punta Gorda, Florida, died peacefully Wednesday morning, June 18, 2008 at her residence in Venice, Florida. Born December 28, 1916 in Brooklyn, New York, Catherine, a loving sister, wife, mother and grandmother, left her native New York for New Jersey after marrying her beloved husband Gerardo Catena. She moved to their longtime winter residence in Boca Raton with her husband in 1975, where they lived until moving to Punta Gorda in 1999.  Following her husbands death in 2000, she moved in 2001 to Venice, Florida and was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Venice. Survivors include 5 children; daughters Donna Gross of Punta Gorda, Patricia Eckert of Hypoluxo, FL, Victoria Peraino of Westlake Village, CA, and Geraldine Winters of Purcellville, VA; son, Richard Catena of Rahway, NJ, 9 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren; sisters Betty Fanning and Beatrice Doonan, both of NJ, Anne Long of NC, and Margaret Brown of TX, and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Sunday, June 22, 2008 at Roberson Funeral Home Punta Gorda Chapel from 6 to 8 PM with evening Wake service at 7 PM.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 AM Monday, June 23, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Punta Gorda.  A private committal will be held at a later date.   Friends may visit online at www.robersonfh.com to sign the guest book and extend condolences to the family.  Arrangements are by Roberson Funeral Home & Crematory Punta Gorda Chapel.
