China says it needs “urgent” protective masks because of coronavirus

3 February 2020 : China announced on Monday that it is an “urgent need” for medical masks, with the number of deaths due to the emerging coronavirus exceeding the number of victims of the 2002 SARS crisis, while the number of infected people exceeded 17,000.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Xunyang said in a press briefing “What China urgently needs is medical masks, protective clothing and safety goggles,” .

Since the emergence of the deadly respiratory virus and its spread during the Chinese New Year holiday, the demand for medical masks and gloves has increased dramatically, especially in countries where the epidemic is rampant, until store shelves are empty of them.

The deadly respiratory virus continues to circulate and kill lives at the same pace, as the Chinese authorities announced, on Monday, that the death toll due to the new Coronavirus in the country rose to 362 after this deadly respiratory virus killed 56 additional people in Hubei Province, the epicenter of the virus.

According to the Health Committee of Hubei Province, the death toll has increased in 24 hours by 2103, bringing the total number of people infected with the virus throughout China to at least 17,238 infected, while in various parts of the world the number of infections has reached 17,370 cases, 486 of whom have recovered .
